Background & Accomplishments

Dr. Beth Erickson completed her Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota where she studied how to deliberately generate psychological development in adults. At her final oral examination, she was told by her six-person examination committee that her ground-breaking research had advanced the state of knowledge in her field by ten years.

Dr. Beth and Jack CanfieldAfter completing two years’ postdoctoral training in family systems therapy from The Family Institute of Chicago (part of Northwestern University), Dr. Beth practiced marriage and family therapy for over three decades. During her tenure, she helped thousands of families, couples and individuals conquer grief, thrive during life changing events and enrich their relationships.

Since 1973, Dr. Beth has been enlightening her audiences on psychological concepts such as:

  • How to change from a failure to a success mentality in yourself, with your children, and in life.
  • How to parent successful children.
  • How to teach using discipline rather than punishing children just to get their misbehavior stopped.

From business owners, lawyers and educators to health professionals, church groups and clergy and corrections workers, Dr. Beth has engaged with her audiences to:

  • Teach them how to identify and work with unresolved grief in those with whom they work.
  • Teach them how to establish working alliances in order to improve performance at school, at home or at work.
  • Create a more positive attitude in those who are struggling for whatever reason.

To date, Dr. Beth has authored three books.

Having previously hosted the radio program "Mirrors of the Soul," Dr. Beth currently hosts the weekly radio program "Relationships 101" on www.webtalkradio.net. She interviews bestselling authors, stars and ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Some of her favorite guests have been bestselling authors such as Stephen M.R. Covey, Roxanne Emmerich, Dr. John Gray, Peggy McColl, Marci Shimoff and Jack Canfield. Other guests have included, the Oscar nominated actor, Mariel Hemingway and neuropsychologist and author, Dr. Rick Hanson. Some memorable programs include speaking with Chris Tatevosian who discussed coping with the chronic degenerative illness of Multiple Sclerosis and Dickon Pownall-Gray, who used his experiences from being bullied as a child as the catalyst to start his own foundation to help middle school children stop bullying. Dr. Beth feels privileged to interview today's thought leaders and those who are making a difference in the lives of everyday people by their courage and creativity.
